PROJECTS
BLUE TREE
2021
This work aims to provide a self-protection solution for women at a time when women's safety is an issue - to hide their gender, to eliminate their human attributes and subsequently to be free from aggression. So I have used the image of a tree because it looks unobtrusive. But then it is painted blue to tell people that it is a fake tree, not a real tree by the roadside, in the same way that a woman does all kinds of self-protection measures but is still identified - she is a woman and not a man. The red line is like a barrier that women face too much. Women are taught too many guidelines for self-protection, and women waste time that would otherwise be unnecessary. But compromise can only lead to retreat, and it takes courageous resistance from women to change things.
HOME
2021
Matches, alcohol, paper
8cm*4cm*8cm
I’m on my way to find myself.
It wasn’t easy for me.
Because East Asians pay more attention to collective consciousness than self-consciousness, self-service for the collective. People are left with only incomplete self.
I set fire to the house made of matches, a ritual to bid farewell to the past.
I let go of the idea that other people are more important than me, that I value myself, that I value my mind, that I am the Master of my body and mind. In the past, home was a collective consciousness, and I burned it down. Now, home is self-awareness, and I look forward to its rebirth.
ANXIETY
2020
It’s an interactive installation. The audience is allowed to come in and take a seat in the chair, but avoid touching the balloons, because each balloon has a needle in it. When you touch the balloon, the needle will shake, which may puncture the balloon. When they finally want to rest, but only found that the tilted chair does not give them a sense of security. Balloons, big and small, are like a lot of anxiety, and they’re just there to stay. Sharp objects were frightening, so I used needles to create a sense of unease. A tilted chair is restless. I wanted to create an atmosphere of anxiety where the audience could feel the emotion.
HI, MISUNDERSTANDING
2019
This work is based on a photo that I have taken. At the time, I was attracted by its strong color and form. Two pieces of clothes hanging back to back, like two people who quarreled. In terms of materials, the branches are not changed, but the trees did not grow in the soil, but in the polystyrene board, which symbolized the unstable relationship. Place the crumbling branches, and the corner of the glass holding the water is also intended to be. Rice husks are not easily digested, just as the misunderstanding between people is difficult to dissolve. The work expresses the impact of misunderstanding on the relationship between people, and it seems that the usual crisis is hidden. It reminds viewers to pay attention to their words and deeds and to think in a timely manner.
SIN MOUNTAIN
2019
This is a mountain made up of wooden blocks of different sizes between 5-10 cm, where each wooden block represents an individual, but these individuals are defective, and the missing part of them are dumped by the box. Since green symbolizes life, I painted the broken part with green, which also makes the broken part easier to notice. In some remote areas of China, there is a phenomenon in which female infants are abandoned or killed, eventually leading to more than 60 million men than women. I want people to realize that women are an important part of human beings. They should not be marginalized or become victims of traditional ideas.
SWAN GOOSE
2018
This is a scarred swan goose. It can’t fly owing to the wound is too heavy. It can only bow its head... and this is my inner portrayal. Through each wound, you can see a blow, let the viewers feel the impact of the text. one foot of the swan goose was lost in order to show the destructive power of mental damage. As a representative of the great ambitions in the imagery of Chinese classical literature, swan goose has now become stagnant and dragged by wounds.
Compared to physical injuries, mental damage is hard to detect, so it is always ignored. In the process of growing up, I often suffer from attacks and ridicule from others. These language attacks have had a negative impact on me. The work expresses the destructive power of mental damage through figurative mental damage. People who suffer from mental damage are like birds that cannot fly, reminding people to pay attention to mental damage instead of just paying attention to the visible damage.
THE WELL
2018
Inspired by the panpipe music, I like the sadness it reveals. Why do I like sad music? This may be related to my childhood experience. When I was 8 years old, I was thrown into the well by my father because I didn't want to learn English. This incident has made me uneasy and fearful. Therefore, this piece made me want to use the toilet paper tube as my creative material in the form of a row of sculpt. Why use a toilet paper tube? Because in my memories, there are often stories of tears and tears, paper towels as a tool to wipe the tears. Paper towels accompanied me with countless sad days and nights. In addition, the paper tube is a round material that symbolizes reincarnation.
Family members want their children to be good, but they use the wrong way. Because they don't know how to express love correctly.
The pain caused by the behavior of the family will not disappear with the passage of time, but will not be erased in the memory.
